COGNITIVE STIMULATION
Cognitive stimulation is the first scientifically recognized non-pharmacological therapy.
It is a strategically oriented intervention to maintain the overall well-being of the person, so as to increase involvement in tasks aimed at reactivation and/or maintenance of residual skills and at slowing down functional loss due to a condition of disease. It is an effective intervention that needs to be structured on the basis of the emerging difficulties of the person and the cognitive areas involved in the process of decay.
The stimulation therefore has a neuroprotective effect of the structures of the brain as a real process of accumulation, structural and functional, Thanks to which the upper brain structures are able to work adequately despite the progress of the harmful neurodegenerative action related to pathological and physiological aging, thus creating a real cognitive reserve.
- Provide the basis for structuring an integrated and applicable non-pharmacological treatment approach in different contexts
- Redefining the person-centred approach as the basis of the therapeutic relationship
- Focus on Cognitive Stimulation as a therapy for mild-moderate decay, on the model of Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (CTS, A. Spector)
- Emphasis on Capacitive Approach to Enhance Personal Competence
- Promoting integration between different care perspectives
- Improving the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions
Doctors, Psychologists, Educators, Social and Health Care Professionals, Nurses, Physiotherapists and all the professionals who deal with relationship help.
The course lasts 8 hours
NEW ORGANISATIONAL AND MANAGEMENT MODELS:INNOVATIVE NON DRUG-THERAPIES AND REMODULATION OF ENVIRONMENTS
The training course aims to address the issue of cognitive fragility management in a view of organizational flexibility and improvement of the different areas of intervention and management of departments (RSA Day Centres and Alzheimer’s Departments). All linked to respecting the times of the fragile person.
During the training, the following areas will be defined and addressed in a new management and organizational perspective:
- Introduction to the innovative welfare model
- Personal selection and evaluation Health and/or Social assistance-Educational
- Model welfare training with theoretical-experiential field training
- Social welfare/health model organization
- Implementation of social welfare/health model
- Inclusion of non-pharmacological therapies
- How to start the department activation path
Directors of structures, Health Directors, Coordinators Managers, Administrative Directors, Nursing Managers.
Dates and time to be defined.
DOLL THERAPY &WORKSHOP
Doll Therapy* is a non-pharmacological therapy used in the advanced stages of cognitive decay for the management and containment of psycho-behavioral disorders related to dementia.
The Workshop on Doll Therapy offers experiential and laboratory paths of practical insertion of Doll Therapy and its use for the management of the fragile person in the residential and home environment.
*Designed by Dr. Ivo Cilesi, the highest national and international expert of Non Drug-Therapies
- Defining the relationship as a working tool
- Present the theoretical reference method
- Training on therapy insertion modes
Doctors, Psychologists, Psychotherapists, Educators, Social Workers, Health Workers and all the professionals who deal with relationship of help.
The course has a total duration of 8 hours + 4 hours of workshops, structured in theoretical moments and outpatient activities.
THERAPEUTIC ENVIRONMENT
The optimal living environment for the fragile person should provide an alternation of spaces in which to perform activities, relax and take breaks. The spaces must therefore be remodulated to meet the new needs of the person providing comfortable environments, meeting spaces and personal spaces, whether these interiors to structures or home.
- Optimising synergies between different therapeutic interventions
- Provide environmental solutions to manage behavioral issues
- Encouraging assistance and therapeutic interventions through the various environmental stimulations
At the end of the course, the learners will be able to observe and evaluate the environment of life in which the fragile person is inserted and to structure it in a therapeutic perspective, providing the right combination of rest and activity spaces (e.g. use of furniture, colour, light, camouflage).
Doctors, Psychologists, Psychotherapists, Educators, Social Workers, Health Workers and all the professionals who deal with relationship of help.
The course lasts 6 hours
THERAPYOF THE JOURNEY
The Therapy of the Journey* intercepts the emotional and affective part of the person with dementia, validating the reality of the here and now. and stimulating relational dynamics within a context dedicated and shared for the person.
The train becomes “an affective container” while the journey stimulates relationships and memories related to the person’s experience.
*Designed by Dr. Ivo Cilesi, the highest national and international expert of Non Drug-Therapies
- Decrease and contain psycho-behavioral disorders related to dementia
- Facilitating emotional, dialogue and relaxation processes
Doctors, Psychologists, Psychotherapists, Educators, Social Workers, Health Workers and all the professionals who deal with relationship of help.
The course has a total duration of 6 hours. The course was modulated by balancing theoretical moments with experiential situations, reinforced by operational simulations.

The course proposes a theoretical-practical training of the Snoezelen activity: history, principles and application through personal training experiences, that can provide the participants with a basic preparation to develop greater awareness in the context of the aid relationship.
- To promote knowledge of the multisensory approach in the field of innovative non-pharmacological interventions
- Acting on the mood promoting positive affective states and promoting relaxation
- Intervene on the quality of life of the subject and his state of well-being, decreasing the states of agitation
- At the end of the course the learners will have acquired a specific theoretical and practical training on the Snoezelen approach according to the ISNA/MSE protocols regarding history, principles, scope and evaluation of the results
